Airbus finally got a second customer for the A330-800neo, the smaller variant of the wide body, Uganda Airlines. However, the national carrrier of the country ordered only two jets.

With this new order, the A330-800neo adds 10 units ordered. In addition to Uganda, only Kuwait Airways chose the model when ordering eight aircraft.

Uganda Airlines’ order had been unveiled in July last year, but remained until then as a provisional commitment. The state-owned company has not been flying since 2001 and was recently relaunched after attempts to attract private initiative to the project.

In addition to the two A330-800s, which will be used on international flights, Uganda Airlines has also ordered four Bombardier CRJ-900 jets.

Almost without customers

Version with longest range of the new A330neo, the -800 can fly 8,150 nm (15,000 km) nonstop, but still has not found interested companies. Meanwhile, the A330-900neo has already accumulated 230 orders and six aircraft delivered – 5 for TAP Air Portugal, the model’s launch customer, and one for Air Senegal.
